Our Clean Energy Future Requires Smart Climate Policy

Xcel Energy is building a clean energy future for the communities we
serve by engaging our customers in energy efficiency and expanding
our use of renewable energy. We are the nation’s number one utility
wind provider. By relying on a diverse portfolio of clean resources, we
are one of the first utilities in the nation to voluntarily reduce our
greenhouse gas emissions. Our proactive clean energy strategy has
enabled us to reduce emissions while minimizing costs to our
customers.

Addressing climate change requires many solutions, including new,
advanced clean-energy technologies that are not yet available. We
believe well-designed climate policy should encourage the
development and deployment of clean-energy technologies, achieve
real emission reductions and minimize consumer costs.

As a member of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), we are working
with other industry members to ensure national climate policy benefits
